Michael McLaughlin, Director of Middle Housing Acceleration

Mike McLaughlin’s previous role was with California’s Department of Housing and Community Development, where he served as an ADU Policy Specialist in the Housing Accountability Unit. In that role, he worked with cities, counties, homeowners, builders, architects, legislative staff and others to navigate California’s ADU laws and solve the implementation challenges that come up on the ground.

He also served on HCD’s Working Group, contributing to implementation discussions around SB 9 and the Starter Home Revitalization Act, and previously worked on the state’s Homekey program.

Prior to HCD, Mike also advocated for tiny homes and ADUs and is an award winning filmmaker.
