Multigenerational ADU in the Spotlight

Casita Coalition CEO Noerena Limon spoke with NBC 7 for a segment to air soon on ADUs in San Diego and how they’re helping families cope with high housing and other expenses. The segment shares a story of a property where one grandmother made room for another grandmother by leasing part of her backyard for a factory-built ADU by Villa Homes. Between the two grandmothers, they help with childcare for grandchildren while the parents are working.

The family’s innovative solution allowed separate ownership of the primary home and ADU, leveraging unused backyard space and a shared commitment to supporting family needs as they evolve over time.
