Casita Speaks with Mercury News on Preapproved ADU Plans
Building an ADU is a big undertaking for a homeowner, but in California we are trying to break down as many barriers as possible.
Jonathan Pacheco Bell spoke with the Mercury News and East Bay Times about AB 1332, the new state law that requires cities to offer preapproved ADU plans. Choosing a preapproved ADU plan shortens timelines and can save homeowners thousands on design fees. Cities like San Jose and Los Angeles list dozens of preapproved plans on their websites, including modular and manufactured ADUs as well as ground-up site-built ADUs.
“Reducing costs, reducing confusion, reducing delays — all of that goes a long way to help everyday homeowners who are trying to build new housing,” said Jonathan Pacheco Bell of @CasitaCoalition.
